Master Your Details.
Details are an essential element of mens outfit and while its important to have some type of a detail for the spark in your look, its equally important to Master Your Details.
Mastering Details sounds little too much, something that you have to read about or do research. Sounds like a lot of work…? It actually is not. Mastering Details is simply having a little vision, an imagination to detail your look. When you think of details, you must know this: not too much and not too little. You must find balance in your outfit, a happy medium. you need to have right details that will make your look complete at any given day. With that in mind, lets get into it and explore some ideas and options to Master your Details.
Basically, when i talk about details for your outfit, it can be anything from socks to a nice watch. what I’m going to do now, is break it down by analyzing different looks:
- Business Look
- Business Casual Look
- Casual Look
If you are thinking of a Business Look (Suit and Tie), it is important to be careful here, because the main thing here is that you don’t want to over do it. What is suggested here is to have a pocket square or lapel. most of the time one or the other in combination with a tie. The reason is because you don’t want to have a congested look. Remember, too much of everything is not good, however, in a situation where you have the entire combination of details, then it is very critical to pay attention to colors. Use lighter colors instead of darker ones. When I mentioned earlier (pocket square), I mean pocket square – square shape.
Business Casual Look
One of my favorite looks and because of that i usually suggest to think of this as freestyle, but to a certain extend. Lets say you are wearing a loafer, denim with button down shirt, and blazer. Now think about how you can make this look Fantastic? Number one detail here, must be a really nice belt, then I suggest to think about a detail for a blazer. It is vital to pay attention to a color combination (stay tuned for my blog on Color Combination). Remember one thing, if you don’t have a detail with this look, you are stepping down from Fantastic look to an OK look.
One rule about casual look that I suggest is that if you want to wear casual, don’t just settle for regular and simple casual. Don’t be afraid to add color to your details. With casual look, your details can be a belt and your footwear. Pay attention to your footwear (color/style), don’t be afraid to risk. Most of the time, great footwear will make your style stand out, so don’t underestimate it.
Now, its time to Master your Details and upgrade your style.
