- Blazer is too big
One of the most common mistakes I see almost every day is when the suit jacket/blazer is too big for your body. If your height is an average height, never buy short or long length blazer. The most common one is, when short man wearing blazer/suit jacket regular length. When you are buying a suit or just a blazer, it is important to know your proper size.
- Long Trousers
The sloppiest look ever. Don’t wear your trousers unhemmed with 2 or more breaks, this makes you look very sloppy. Sloppy look will never present you well. Main tip for men to to go to tailor and get your trousers and jeans hemmed with one break or no break depending on the style of the trousers/jeans.
- Blazer is too small
With new trends of menswear going more towards slim fit or even modern Europeans slim, most men are trying to fit into the new cut of blazers/suit jackets. Unfortunately, not every man’s body is meant for this cut. Don’t wear the blazer if you cannot close buttons or move your arms. Purchase blazer/suit jacket according to your body type.
- Crew neck T-Shirt under unbuttoned dress dress shirt
One of the biggest mistakes and most common mistakes men make is wearing crew neck undershirt with unbuttoned dress shirt. One question to this: why would you do something like that? Don’t you look at the mirror before you leave? This is such a bad look for any man at any age. There other ways to wear undershirt with unbuttoned dress shirt. (separate Blogpost coming soon).

- Leaving dress shirt unbuttoned while wearing a tie
Wearing a tie, means that you must wear it properly, without cutting any corner. One of the bad looks with an easy fix is when Man is wearing a tie with unbuttoned shirt. This is not only looks bad, but also shows how careless you are as a person. When I correct some men, the most common answer I get is that: “when I close the button I feel like I am being chocked”. Two easy fixes: don’t wear tie at all or purchase a shirt half a size bigger so you don’t feel you are being chocked.
- Same color matching
Almost every Man falls into this trap of same color matching. This is not an easy fix, because it requires vision, imagination, and risk. Having all your accessories and details in same color is is not ideal. As you read this and you know that you have done this in the past, just simply stop doing it. (refer to my Blog on color combination)
- Long socks with shorts and low rise sneakers
This was a recent observation of mine in busy streets of NYC. Saw a young man dressed nice (shorts, untucked short sleeved shirt, with Vans and long black socks. Those socks killed his entire look and made him look like a fool. With this look that he had, the best is to go invisible. (invisible socks)
- Same pattern suit jacket/blazer with same pattern dress shirt
One of the worst mistakes any man can make is to wear same pattern combination of the suit/blazer with shirt and tie. Even if it’s a different color shirt, it cannot be same pattern. This is something every man should keep in mind. Think of the contrast between the patterns and definitely same thing applies to pattern of shirt and tie. Think about this: would you ever paint the walls, ceilings, and floors in your home with same color or design? The answer is NO.
